My name is Carrie, and as you probably know by now, I am Marriage and Family therapist in practice since 2012.  I have had the absolute privilege of working with youth on probation, those with substance use issues, young adults in college, and most recently, as the Managed Care Program Supervisor at the County of San Luis Obispo.  The position oversees the intake call center and clinicians for the county of SLO, and yes it's super interesting job.

With a growing family, it was time for a change to a slower pace of work to give myself more time to think.

As an ADHDer myself, I have all kinds of hobbies.  My current one (since COVID) is trying to make silver jewelry, and the gemstones that go with it.  I have quite the collection I keep in my office, and upon request, gemstone could make an appearance in therapy.

I grew up in the greater LA area until about 10 years ago when I was looking for a little less traffic in my life. I got married to a California Central Coast native at the Big Sur River Inn, and have been settled in Atascadero ever since. I have 3 kids, my eldest, and my twins, a shelter adopted beagle mix that would be a great therapy dog, if he "didn't have anxiety himself", two main coons, and one pet snail.

I loved growing up in LA because I felt at home in many cultures different from my own.  I know I don't have inclusion and diversity all figured out, but I have, and am working on my awareness, and I genuinely love it when people share their life with me.

Some sulths have noticed that both of my therapy degrees are from Christian colleges and Seminaries. I find this gives some people a fast-track to trust, and some pause. Either response is very normal, and I want to assure anyone that while I enjoy my degrees and my beliefs, It it within my professional and personal ethics to conduct therapy without swaying your worldview. I find that we usualy have much to talk about.
